Welcome to Orange

The Orange Region is home to a huge range of growers and wonderful fresh produce. Our fertile slopes and rich soils yield everything from apples, cherries and figs right through to venison, olive oil, lamb and our famous cool climate wines. The city has over 40,000 residents and welcomes visitors from all states of Australia and all corners of the globe. There are plenty of great places to eat, to stay, to play and to enjoy the scenery. Make sure you take the time to explore our city and our region while you’re here and share your good times with friends and family.

 

Accommodation

Accommodation options for when you are staying in Orange for work include:

  • Living onsite the orchard you work.  This option is not available for all sites, so please check directly where you are working.
  • Colour City Caravan Park – 203 Margaret Street Orange.  

 

Colour City Caravan Park is owned and managed by Orange City Council.  Accommodation is available for workers through the paying to stay in the provision of supplied weather proof tents.  Up to 50 tents are on site.

Federal Falls Picnic and Camping Area
This site is for primitive camping – with limited facilities. No camping on the summit of Mt Canobolas.

Caravan Parks with limited camping are located around our region at Blayney, Cudal, Molong, Manildra and Canowindra.

Accommodation no go areas

The following sites DO NOT permit camping.  They are patrolled by Orange City Council Rangers and you will be asked to move on and possibly face a penalty. The sites are:

  • Orange Showground
  • Lake Canobolas
  • Apex Driver Reviver site
  • Orange City Council Civic Centre car park
  • Cycling Velodrome

A combination of working for contractors and walk up takes place for the cherry harvest.  Information has been provided to Orange City Council staff on the following orchards that will take workers. This is at the discretion of the orchard owner / manager.
